ABOUT JOHN CROFT DESIGN
John Croft Design has evolved from humble beginnings in 1980, into a multi-award winning interior design company. Founded and lead by John Croft, member of the Design Institute of Australia, the business was built upon the philosophy of transforming a house into a home with a distinguishable audacious flair.
John is renowned for his distinctive colourful designs, panache and meticulous attention to detail. While resisting traditional design conventions, our style has evolved over time through bringing new skills and talent into the business, and continuing to take inspiration from a range of modern design influences. The breadth of our designs is evident through our portfolio, from our distinctively vibrant aesthetic, to more simplistic and classic looks.
At John Croft Design, we uphold a collective belief that there truly is no place quite like home. A home is where families are built, friends convene and memories are made, thus it should be a sanctuary that is warm and welcoming, and above all else, suitably reflect who you are. With this in mind, our experienced team work collaboratively with our clients, translating each family’s lifestyle, taste, personality and vision into a design scheme that aptly mirrors the dynamic of the home.
We understand the level of trust that is required to invite somebody into your home. We take the time to get to know each and every one of our clients on a personal level, to develop a deeper understanding of their emotional drivers, desires and uncertainties.
Developing long-standing relationships with our clients, a greater portion of our work comes from referrals and loyal customers who continue to return, which is a testament to the quality of our service and their level of trust in our team.
We take great pride in helping our clients turn their houses into homes; homes that they can retreat to, and that they can be proud of. We will ensure that your experience with the John Croft Design team is nothing short of enjoyable, rewarding and stress-free.
John Croft, Principal Interior Designer
John studied Interior Design at night school whilst working full-time. After qualifying as an interior designer and working in the industry for a few years, he opened John Croft Design in 1980 which has won numerous awards since it’s establishment. In 2013 John was awarded a Fellowship of the Design Institute of Australia in recognition of his services to the interior design industry.
“I discovered my creative gift and passion for interior design when I was renovating my first home at the age of 19. This crystallised my future career where I studied at night and worked during the day to support myself and my mortgage. Interior design is my life and my passion and it is a great privilege and an honour to be asked by my clients to work with them on their projects.”
Kylie Mann, Senior Interior Designer
Kylie has been an interior designer with John Croft Design since 1994. She previously worked in the industry for a few years after completing her Advanced Diploma of Interior Design at Griffith University in 1990.
“Over the past 20 years, I have enjoyed a lasting relationship with many repeat clients. This is one of the main reasons I became an interior designer instead of an architect, as I’d originally planned. I am a people person and I love working with clients on a personal level and creating a home which is both stylish and functional.”
Lloyd Hodgkinson, Senior Interior Designer
Lloyd has been with Brisbane-based John Croft Design since 2006 when he completed his Diploma of Interior Technology.
“From a young age, I was very aware of my surroundings. I was constantly rearranging furniture at home and became increasingly obsessed with details, so for me making a career in interior design was a natural progression. I love being invited into a client’s home and being given the opportunity to create something that will affect their mood through beautiful surroundings.”
Nyria King, Interior Designer
After completing her Bachelor of Interior Design at Griffith University – Queensland College of Art in 2004, Nyria managed a furniture and homewares store before joining the John Croft Team.
“I am fascinated by beautiful colours and beautiful things, and have always been completely affected by my environment. By the age of 15, I decided I was going to be an interior designer. I wanted to create beautiful homes for people to love, enjoy and feel comfortable in. It is so rewarding when a project is finished, seeing the clients excitement and full transformation from beginning to end.”
