Congratulations Marilyn

This month our design administrator, Marilyn Henderson, is celebrating 15 years at John Croft Design. Marilyn is an integral member of the John Croft Design team who keeps the office functioning with her hard work and support to the designers.  She is a very stylish woman with a passion for interior design. Congratulations Marilyn!

John Croft Design in QLD Homes

coastal style living room

We were lucky enough to have another project of ours featured in the Summer edition of Queensland Homes magazine.

After purchasing this New South Wales house with its dark and heavy formal furnishings throughout which were at odds with the house’s contemporary style, the owners enlisted Renee to rejuvenate it. She turned it into a home now filled with colour, light and a wonderful ocean sea breeze.

Take a look inside the bright and stylish 5 bedroom Kingscliff holiday home!

Flood Damage

It was a very challenging few days as we sustained some flood damage during the storms on November 27th. Some of our stock was damaged including many antique pieces of furniture that will now need restoration. We managed to salvage a few things but luckily we had installed much of our clients furniture.

Friday was a big day of cleaning up and we have hired storage sheds to take all of our stock while we recarpet and clean-up downstairs.

New Stock

At John Croft Design, we are always on the hunt for new and exciting pieces that we can use in our interior design and decoration projects. These are a few of our favourite treasures that John recently uncovered:

Collection of brightly coloured ceramic urns, ginger jars and stools: sure to add vibrancy to any room!

Els Sculpture: We have recently acquired this sculpture named “Paper Hat” by Brisbane artist Els Houwen. The sculpture features a necklace made out of hand-made beads and flashing lights.

Artwork: Great original artwork that John recently purchased.

Antique Console: John recently purchased this 19th Century Italian console table with Birch veneer from an antique dealer.

Pair of ceramic blue and white ginger jars: standing at 900mm high, they would be a fantastic statement piece.

Sterling Silver Accessories: This beautiful collection of antique sterling silver accessories has recently been purchased from an antique dealer.

Which piece is your favourite?

Decorating the Table for Christmas

Decorating the table for Christmas doesn’t have to be the same old colour combination of the traditional red and green! There are many other colour combinations for decorating at Christmas which are becoming more prominent and will give your table a much more vibrant, festive look – gold and cream, aqua and hot pink, purple and orange just to name a few.

If you are still stuck on ideas The Prop House, owned by Jano Dawes, sells and hires out Christmas decorations so you don’t have to worry about doing it yourself!

Latest Blog – The Art of Assembling a Vignette

A vignette (vin-yet) can be many things, however in the interior design realm, vignettes are purposefully crafted arrangements of accessories throughout the home. In a similar fashion to it’s literary counterpart, a vignette in the home brings characters, or in this case objects, together and tells a unique and personal story.

In our latest blog post, we’ve compiled a few guiding tips and tricks to help you create beautiful vignettes in your home.

Maintenance Services

Did you know that we offer maintenance services to all of our clients? From reupholstering, and rug and carpet cleaning, to updating lamp shades, scatter cushions and artificial floral arrangements, we can help make seemingly small changes that will reinvigorate your home or chosen space. And for all of our existing clients, we will waive all consultation and design fees. If you need help with maintaining the interior of your home, simply contact the office or your designer on (07) 3257 0633 to make an appointment.

Passing of Harvey

It is with a heavy heart we share our last photo of Harvey. Our little work mate passed away on 22nd of October. Harvey has accompanied John to work every day for the last 12 years. He was an important member of the John Croft Design team and will be sadly missed.
