JOHN CROFT DESIGN FEATURED IN THE LATEST EDITION OF QUEENSLAND HOMES MAGAZINE

05-16 qld homes magazine feature

John Croft Design presents our latest project, as seen in the winter edition of Queensland Homes Magazine.

Principle Interior Designer John Croft of John Croft Design, assisted by Interior Designer Nyria King, shows how exquisitely decorating a holiday rental home can be done.

The Hampton’s inspired architecture and physical beachfront location of the home dictated the direction of the interior styling – the owners wanted a continuation of the classic, coastal theme and everything was selected with practicality in mind.

PROJECT REVIEW: BEFORE & AFTER

05-16 before and after interior design

This project that we are featuring gives a wonderful example of the drastic transformation this space underwent after Lloyd had completed the project for his client. What was originally a cold, uninviting room was transformed into a beautifully sophisticated space that truly reflected Lloyd’s clients South African heritage. To achieve this look, the walls were wallpapered with grassweave-look wallpaper to add depth to the space. The large upholstered items were kept neutral while the colour and interest was added in through the use of scatter cushions, accessories and the clients wonderful existing art collection. Many of the clients existing African artifacts were also used to help create a dynamic look.

We have recently came across this article by Rebekah Hurworth from My Family Home Experts, questioning: “Do I really need an architect? Can’t I just use a draftsman or building designer?”

We have enjoyed working with Rebekah and her team on several projects and thought you might be interested in reading her article.

EDNA HART – ORIGINAL ARTWORK

Our client has given us a collection of original artworks by her 99 year old mother ‘Edna Hart’ to be framed. These stunning botanicals and landscapes are all hand painted using oriental brushes on rice paper. Edna has also adapted this technique to create a series of Australian wildflowers. We are absolutely blown away by her attention to detail!
