Modern Queenslander – Shorncliffe

With the assistance of Interior Designer Lloyd Hodgkinson, John Croft turned a modern renovation by Rebekah Hurworth into a warm and inviting home for a family with two young children. Starting with the magnificent entrance, a Hepplewhite inspired console anchored by a large scale oil portrait and various opulent accessories, guests are ushered into a vibrant living room with lively jewel toned seating and accessories that pair beautifully with classic case goods with modern lines. The stylish entertaining continues outdoors where sophisticated white and grey rattan furniture are accessorised with sunny yellow and other richly hued accessories. Then there’s the billiard room with its jovial fabric chairs and the most spirited collection of modern masks artfully displayed over the mantle. The most imaginative and playful display though is the collection of jewel toned papier mâché animal heads in one of the homes main hallways. As entertaining and light-hearted as all the public spaces are, the homeowners needed a haven to get away from their busy lives. So, John and Lloyd created a delightful refuge in the master bedroom where neutral tones, classic furniture and sophisticated artwork create a haven for the adults to retreat to. The office is yet another sophisticated space decorated in a colonial style with very clever furniture placement that makes the most of the slanted roof providing a cozy feel throughout.

Whether looking to create a haven to retire to at the end of a busy day or to create a playful entertainer’s dream home, look no further than the talented team at John Croft Design. Call our offices to be placed with an attentive interior designer who will assist you in designing the home of your dreams.
