On the Beach – Main Beach

The residents of this beautiful beachside home on the Gold Coast have held a long-standing relationship with John Croft Design that spans 20 years, having engaged the interior design team for three separate projects. Boasting lashings of vibrant colour and patterns with a punch, the previous interior, which just so happened to have been designed by the John Croft Design team, was beloved by the homeowners. However, after years of wear and tear, the homeowners came to the decision that a refurbishment was in order.

VISION

Providing no brief for the project, the homeowners merely requested that the home be transformed into a liveable, relaxing and warm environment, with the functionality and durability to withstand anything that their six young grandchildren could throw at it. In addition to this, they wanted their grandchildren’s presence to be more apparent in their absence.

“The clients just wanted their home to be liveable, relaxing and with a feeling of warmth,” says John Croft of the beachside abode. “It was essential that it be robust and hardy to accommodate their young and active grandchildren so they wanted to avoid a ‘precious’ space.”

HOME INTERIOR DESIGN SCHEME

In order to bring the homeowners’ vision to life, John Croft Design chose patterns, colours and fabrications that were vivid and hardwearing, serving a duality of purposes. With a desire to showcase the grandchildrens’ artwork throughout the home, John sourced a custom-made hand-knotted rug bearing their creations. Steeped in emotional sentiment, the unique addition to the home that was positioned in the hallway, has injected a youthful personality into the space.

RESULT

Artfully forging a synergy between the home’s natural surrounds and the interior space, John Croft Design fused bright hues with muted tones and skillfully combined varying textures to create a deceptively neutralised interior. After reupholstering existing furniture and sourcing new pieces and accessories, the three storey home with enviable ocean views has now been transformed into a home with vibrancy, warmth and a laidback demeanor that the whole family loves.
